Bio

Shinichiro Nagasawa (b. 1977) is a photographer based in Tokyo. His work explores how events are inscribed in the landscape, moving between portraiture and landscape. Focusing on the Ogasawara Islands, he has developed a long-term project examining how events such as colonization, occupation, reversion, and nuclear deployment have been rendered invisible yet remain inscribed in the landscape. He published The Bonin Islanders (2021, AKAAKA Art Publishing), which centers on the identity of Western-descendant islanders. In Mary Had a Little Lamb (2024, AKAAKA Art Publishing), Nagasawa photographed nuclear warhead storage sites on Chichijima during the period of U.S. military occupation, presenting traces of those events embedded in the landscape. For this work, he received the 49th Kimura Ihei Photography Award.

長沢慎一郎（1977年生まれ）は、東京を拠点に活動する写真家。出来事が風景の中にどのように埋め込まれているのかを主題とし、ポートレートと風景を往復しながら作品を制作している。小笠原諸島を中心とした長期プロジェクトを展開し、開拓、占領、返還、核配備といった出来事が、いかに不可視化され風景の中に残されているのかを探ってきた。欧米系島民のアイデンティティを主題とした『The Bonin Islanders』（2021年、赤々舎）を刊行。『Mary Had a Little Lamb』（2024年、赤々舎）では、米軍占領下の父島に配備された核弾頭貯蔵庫を撮影し、出来事の痕跡を提示した。同作により、第49回木村伊兵衛写真賞を受賞。
